  • ICMP (Internal Ping Check): This network utility check for availability of your Cloud Server from inside the WHOA network where the Cloud Server resides. If the Cloud Server fails to respond, the monitoring platform will automatically send you an email of the failure.
  • ICMP (External Ping Check): This network utility check for availability of your Cloud Server from outside the WHOA network where the Cloud Server resides. If the Cloud Server fails to respond, the monitoring platform will automatically send you an email of the failure.
  • URL (Internal Network Website Check): This monitor will check for availability of the Customers website by performing a URL check within the WHOA internal network, and will notify the customer if the site is unavailable.
  • HTTP (External Network Website Check): This monitor will check for availability of the Customers website by performing an HTTP check, and will notify the customer if the site is unavailable.
  • Port Monitoring – monitor the ports your web applications rely on by checking for a response from a specific port on your server, and determining if the process that is bound to that port is running
  • Port Monitoring (External): This network utility check for availability of your Cloud Server by port from outside the WHOA network where the Cloud Server resides. If the port fails to respond, the monitoring platform will automatically send you an email of the failure.
  • Content-verification Monitor – monitor URL and web content availability, port and name server response.

External Monitoring

The Cloud DNS Networking system supports a very large subset of monitors from something as simple as a ping to something more complex as a DNS record lookup or even an HTTP Post that looks for specific content on the return. Configuring the correct monitor is essential to properly detecting outages for devices.

There are four default monitors that are pre-configured for quick use.  They can always be edited and have parameters adjusted.

There are numerous advanced monitors that you can use to create custom monitoring functionality to granularly detect UP/DOWN status for your devices.

Availability Checks

WHOA.com provides visibility to Customer’s virtual machine (VM) availability.   All WHOA Data Centers come with VM Availability Checks and the checks are delivered by our agent based monitoring system. Availability checks are provided 24 x 7 x 365 for your Cloud Servers.

WhoaLogic Availability checks provide Customers the following:

  • Operating System Up/Down monitoring
  • Customer Alerts via WHOA ticketing system

Availability checks are only available on WHOA provided Windows operating systems. Customers may opt out of availability checks, however, WHOA is not responsible for server availability alerts.

Additional monitors for CPU, disk, and memory utilization, as well as external network ping, Application, and Network can be added with our WhoaLogic Standard and Advanced Monitoring packages.
